Olympic Gaze recorded his fifth win and the first win for Blackbird Power Racing at Canterbury on Wednesday 16 August 2023 in a Benchmark 72 race over 1900m.

As the barriers opened, Kathy O’Hara slotted Olympic Gaze into an ideal position third on the rails where he travelled sweetly. Entering the straight it was clear that he was going to be in the finish. Despite being briefly help up approaching the 300m and racing tight between the 300m and the 200m between The Milkybar Kid who held on for 2nd and Vain invader who finished 3rd, from that point on though, it was clear that there would be only one winner with O’Hara booting Olympic Gaze home with over a length to spare.

Stable Forman Nathan Perry was full of praise “His runs have been great” and indicated there are some more positive days ahead as the horse improves into his preparation “there are a few options there”.

Jockey Kathy O’Hara was also impressed as she said “He was turned out really well today and took great improvement and started to glow in his coat” as she summed it up perfectly with “He won well”.

Blackbird Power Racing bought into Olympic Gaze in mid-July and have enjoyed tremendous success with three races in Metropolitan Sydney netting a win, a second and a fifth placing for $40,350, within one month of purchase.
